About
I hold a BSc. in Agricultural Sciences and Engineering Diploma from the American University of Beirut, an MSc. degree in International Land and Water Management from Wageningen University, Netherlands, as well as a Ph.D. in Water Law from the University of Dundee in Scotland, UK. My work focuses on water law, tenure, policy, institutions, and reforms; water governance analysis; water security and scarcity; as well as transboundary waters and water diplomacy in the Levant. I am particularly interested in the customs and practices of water conservation in Lebanon, water heritage and history, indigenous water rights, and traditional knowledge. Georges also has expertise in the Water-Energy-Food Nexus, Innovation in the Water Sector, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, and Water Users’ Associations.
Water Governance and Policy Expert and Communications Manager at Difaf SAL, I am an experienced consultant in agriculture and water issues and have produced reports and consultations for several international organizations such as the FAO, UNDP, UNESCWA, USAID, Geneva Water Hub, etc. I have edited and reviewed multiple chapters and have several other published journal articles and presented at conferences related to the topic of water laws, policy, and governance. I also held teaching posts for five years at the American University of Technology in Halat, where he taught several courses on water law, water policy, water politics, and soil sciences.
