Driss Benzekri Foundation for Human Rights and Democracy

Overview

The Driss Benzekri Foundation for Human Rights and Democracy (FDBDHD) is an independent non-governmental organization. It was created in May 2008, on the occasion of the first commemoration of the death of the late Driss Benzekri, initiator and leader of the process of transitional justice and reconciliation in Morocco.

The FDBDHD works through its activities to develop and enrich the Moroccan experience in the field of human rights. For this, the FDBDHD has a double vocation:

  • To be an independent scientific space of strategic reflection on the doctrine of human rights and its concrete applications by the decision-making mechanisms of the national actors - the Moroccan State first - or by the strategies of action announced in the field by organizations specialized, civil and institutional, national and international.
  • To be a space for multiple and cross-fertilization of interactions and interactions between all actors and actors who act on the future of human rights in Morocco, conceptually as well as practically, whether national, foreign or international, institutional or civil.
