The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently inviting interested and eligible applicants to join a new 2019 funding Window II of Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement Pooled Fund grant program.
The objective of Window II of the Pooled Fund is to strengthen linkages and joint collaboration within the Multi-Sector/Stakeholder Platform at both the national and sub-national level. Window II will support both tested and innovative approaches for learning and experience exchange, including peer-to-peer learning, training combining face-to-face and distance learning, and coaching.
Grant support will be allocated according to the following parameters:
- Maximum award amount per grant: Up to USD 300,000
- Maximum number of grants to be awarded under this Call for Proposal: 10
- Period of activity: maximum 14 months from the date of the signature of the Grant Support Agreement
Deadline: 14 July 2019, by 15:00 (Geneva Time)
For Window I priority was given to projects from national Civil Society Alliances that demonstrated the use of partnerships to achieve objectives outlined in the National Nutrition Plans. More emphasis was given on improving nutrition outcomes and less on creating new processes and structures. Focus was on strengthening collaboration at country level between different networks through joint planning and collaboration on concrete activities.
About the SUN Movement
The Scaling Up Nutrition Movement (SUN Movement) is a network of voluntary membership of SUN Countries. While the SUN Movement Secretariat is hosted by the United Nations Office for Project Services, the Movement belongs to all those who support it: United Nations agencies, scientists, parliamentarians, journalists, entrepreneurs, professional associations, community organizers, medical practitioners, civil servants and business leaders who understand that improving nutrition is key to unlocking a better future for children across the globe. The SUN movements understands the high personal and economic costs of stunting and the failure of a fragmented and dysfunctional international architecture to deal with it. SUN Countries raise their own domestic and external resources for scaling up nutrition.
UNOPS Grant support will improve the delivery of multi-sector nutrition activities that impact nutrition outcomes for nutritionally vulnerable groups including: women, girls and adolescents, and communities at the local level. Projects should aim to achieve the transformation of national and sub-national nutrition policies into concrete actions.
To ensure the most effective use of the funds, special consideration will be given to capacity strengthening initiatives, especially at the sub-national level, that could benefit the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement at large. Special consideration will also be given to those projects that include sharing lessons learned, knowledge management and success stories from the projects with the other members of the Multi-Sector/Stakeholder Platform and the Movement as a whole.
